Wonder Woman Day V

Wonder Woman Day V is this Sunday.  For those not familiar with the event, it is an annual all-ages event that has raised over $89,000 to help domestic violence survivors and their children.

Events are being held in Portland, OR and Flemington, NJ, but the highlight is always the silent auction.  Over 300 artists have contributed art to be auctioned off, including Adam Hughes, Allison Sohn, Ethan Van Sciver, Aaron Lopresti and many more.  Off-site bidding continues until tomorrow, so go check out some of the amazing artwork and help raise money for a very worthy cause.

Wonder Woman Day V – Call for Artists

I received the following email from my friends in the Mid-South Cartoonists Association.  Artists, please consider donating a piece of artwork for this event.  More information, including donated artwork, can be seen at the Wonder Woman Day V Facebook page.

In October 2006-2009, the Wonder Woman Day I-IV events have raised over $89,000 for Domestic Violence programs in Portland, Oregon and Flemington, NJ. The four-year combination of auctions of over 800 original art pieces, plus collectibles, autograph signings, and photo opportunities has meant a spectacular turnout… over $89,000 TOTAL … and four Mayoral Proclamations!

On October 24, 2010, Wonder Woman Day V – again as a part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month – will take place, returning to Excalibur Books in Portland, Oregon, and Comic Fusion in Flemington, New Jersey!

***** This is the FINAL Wonder Woman Day event. Next October will be a similar event, but not Wonder Woman-specific.*****

There will be multiple Domestic Violence charity programs benefiting from the events. All donations will receive a downloadable receipt from the charity for tax purposes.

We know that the economy has hit hard, and that things are rough for most of us. If you have the ability to help with your talent, we hope you will.

Will YOU contribute a piece of Wonder-Woman-themed artwork?
Or even two pieces (one for each event)?

If you can do an art piece for the event, please let me know ASAP, so that I can put your name on the poster and in pre-publicity.

Deadlines:
To be listed on the posters and publicity for the on-site art auction in Portland or NJ: art must be received by October 1
Absolute final deadline for art to be in the on-site art auction in Portland or NJ: art must be received by October 15

We need time to publicize this online (bidding will take place online and pre-event). There ARE a few guidelines, which I will send once you confirm.
